Penny Brohn Cancer Care (formerly Bristol Cancer Help Centre) is the UK’s leading provider of complementary care for people with cancer. The Charity gives people the practical tools needed to improve their quality of life and help manage their fear of cancer.
The charity founded and specialises in the Bristol Approach to cancer care. Physical, emotional and spiritual support is delivered through a range of therapy courses, such as massage, practical advice on nutrition and lifestyle, and self-help tools such as meditation and relaxation. The Bristol Approach works as a natural partner to medical treatment, and is delivered by the Charity’s experienced teams of doctors, nurses and complementary therapists.
Penny Brohn Cancer Care also works to develop good practice in the field of complementary cancer care, with over 500 places a year available on its university-accredited education and training courses, aimed at health professionals and complementary therapists who want to use the Bristol Approach.
The charity’s Cancerpoint service enables people to benefit from over 3,500 individual appointments a year with the therapy team including nutritional and massage therapists.
Penny Brohn Cancer Care was founded over 27 years ago in October 1980 by Penny Brohn a woman living with cancer, and her great friend and supporter Pat Pilkington MBE.
